| .... back to page 1.... Another 1/72 Amodel Bandeirante kit #72395 was made. In the Netherlands, despite being a small country, there
was need to have an airline route in the end nineteen-eighties between
the national Dutch Schiphol airport near Amsterdam and the Twente region with cities Almelo, Hengelo and Enschede in
the East near the German border. The flight over 120 km would be not even an hour but
would feed into the large Amsterdam Schiphol airport. With local regional
financial support “LUCHTVAARTMAATSCHAPPIJ TWENTE” the airline was
established with a Freeway Air leased Bandeirante commuter aircraft
with some 16 seats. Their first aircraft was registered PH-FWS but this
was soon joined by another Bandeirante aircraft PH-FWT. The scheme was also changed with now
the name TWENTE AIRLINES. Initially 5 flight were flown between the
regional Twente airport and Schiphol but soon passenger demand dropped
to 2 flights a day. But the operations were stopped January 1994 and
the aircraft were transferred to ASL International. The model will be made as one of the EMB-110 P
Bandeirantes registration PH-FWT as operated by Twente Airlines. This
aircraft entered
service September 1990 with Twente Airlines and was leased from Freeway
Air BV (ex XC-DUA). Twente Airlines flew this aircraft until January
1994.

| Start with the fuselages halves, see the page 1 how the windows are best installed at an early stage. I did not make a rear cabin interior from scrap, nothing of it will be seen. The cockpit parts were made as per kit and painted with some extra strap details and instrument panel. The wing parts and engine nacelles were assembled as a sub-assembly. Sanding and puttying is needed. The 2 large sub-assemblies fuselage and wing were joined with putty and sanding at the wing-fuselage joints. ![]() Install the ventral fin that was also fitted on the EMB-110 P (not on early Bandeirante variants). The fuselage spine needed several layers of putty and sanding to get a smooth finish. NOTE: I later found out that the rear smaller cabin window at port should be closed up on this particular aircraft. ![]() Rescribe some panellines, particularly at the fuselage spine. The stabilizers were not yet set but airbrushed and the smaller parts will be set at a later stage. Masking was done on all windows. I had made the SOVA-M P-95 kit and could re-use some of its masks. ![]() The model got than the base grey airbrushed with thinned Revell Aqua 75 steingrau acrylic. Any flaws were again sanded and puttied until all looked fine. This Twente Airlines Bandeirante has an overall gloss white scheme. Airbrushed were a few layers of thinned Revell Aqua 05 weiss acrylic. Than followed a few gloss white coats with Gunze Sangyo Mr.Hobby H1 white acrylic 100% thinned with 90% Gunze acrylic thinner and 10% Gunze levelling thinner.
The leading edges of wing, stabilizers, vertical tail were masked and than airbrushed flat black. The fuselage nose and tiny nacelle intakes black as well. The white surfaces were glossy. ![]() Decalling with my own designed and made decals for Twente Airlines was done. These are full colour laser printed on a single decal sheet film. As the model is mainly white, no white print colour is needed. If you want a decals sheet AIPD-188, let me know... ![]() Each decal has to be cut out with fine scissors. ![]() The masks were removed from all windows. The cheatline decals are designed to match the window rows of the Amodel kit. You do not need to remove the clear printed window' areas. Decalling just took an hour. ![]() When decalling was completed, the remaining smaller parts were installed as per kit such as the landing gears. On the vertical tail not the antennas #37 were set but 2 flat blade antennas from thin card. On the upper fuselage near the cockpit antenna #46 was not set. Antennas #40 were set as well as #30. Regarding the horizontal stabilizers, I found that on this aircraft there were horizontal. They had been airbrushed earlier and were now installed. The
propeller blades are set as per kit and they are in a nice
feathered pose as usually seen on parked Bandeirantes. The blades were
painted light grey with black leading edges and light-grey/grey/
light-grey tip stripes. The spinner shiny aluminium. The
model was not weathered, this is a well maintained commuter. Only the
recessed flap
lines got a darker pencil stripe. A final airbrushed acrylic varnish coat of Johnson Future / Pledge thinned with 5% Gunze Sangyo Mr.Color Leveling Thinner protects the decals and gives a nice gloss sheen. ![]() Two window wipers were made from black stretched sprue and fixed with white glue besides the front cockpit window frames. The anti-collision lights are tiny clear kit parts and set and clear painted red at port and green at starboard wing tips as per kit. ![]() At aileron ends, stabilizer and tail rudder top 5 pairs (2 each) of static dischargers were set made from black EZ line (or use thin black stretched sprue). That completed this nice looking model of a former Dutch airline. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ... set in a scenery... If you want a decals sheet AIPD-188, let me know... |
